Colossians 4:2 Devote ourselves in prayer with a thankful heart

Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart.

Colossians 4:2

Saint Paul while writing his letter to the church in Colossians, reiterate the importance of leading a devoted prayer life. He has also given importance to have an alert mind. Why we need an alert mind while praying.

There are 2 things which coming in my mind. One is that while we pray we should have an alert mind to stay focused on our interaction with our Holy Father God in heaven. Second is to be alert about the incidents, people, etc which we carry about in our prayer. We are called to prayer. Prayer lets us to interact with our heavenly Father God. He longs to hear from us. He wants to listen our words coming from our minds. 

Another very important aspect in this verse is to have a thankful heart while we pray. Most of the time we either prays for our needs or pray for others needs or may be for the salvation of people we pray for. In anyways, we need to thank God for our lives, His mercy and blessings in our life, how wonderfully He leads us in this world. Our gratitude shows our trust and faith in our heavenly Father God.
